Access The apartment is located on the second floor of a historic Victorian home and is accessed by stairs. Guests climb approximately 15 outdoor steps to reach the private guest entrance, followed by approximately 6 indoor steps to the apartment. There is no elevator. Garden Setting The home is surrounded by a distinctive landscaped garden rather than a traditional front lawn. The garden is part of the character of the property and includes a variety of established and native-style plantings that many guests and neighbors especially enjoy. Location The apartment is conveniently located for enjoying Montclair. Guests can walk to nearby restaurants, cafés, shops, grocery stores, cultural attractions, and public transportation to New York City. Whether you are visiting for business, spending time with family and friends, attending an event, relocating, or simply enjoying Montclair, the apartment provides a clean, comfortable and welcoming home base. I prepare the space the way I would want to find a place when traveling myself: thoughtfully cared for, comfortable, and ready for you to settle in and feel at home. Private Areas Please note that the gated backyard and front porch are part of my private living space and are not available for guest access. Guests have their own private entrance and accommodations.
Other Details to Note
This is a historic Victorian home with stairs and no elevator. Guests climb approximately 15 outdoor steps to the private entrance and about 6 indoor steps to reach the second-floor apartment. The home does not have central air conditioning. Cooling is provided by window A/C units, which work well but may produce normal operating noise. Heating is provided by a traditional radiator system controlled by one central thermostat. Guests may occasionally hear normal steam or radiator sounds, and temperatures can vary somewhat from room to room. I do my best to accommodate comfort preferences, and space heaters are available in cooler months for guests who prefer a warmer room. My two rescue dogs live with me on the property. They are generally well supervised, but guests may occasionally hear them bark or respond to outside sounds. The gated backyard and front porch are private areas and are not available for guest access. Please do not enter through the backyard gates or access the front porch. The property has a landscaped garden rather than a traditional front lawn. It is part of the character of the home and includes established and native-style plantings.

Guest Access Guests have private access to the entire second-floor apartment through a separate key-code entrance located on the side of the house. If you are facing the front of the house, the guest entrance is on the left side, opposite the front porch. Please note that there are approximately 15 outdoor steps leading to the guest entrance and about 6 additional indoor steps to reach the second-floor apartment. There is no elevator. Motion-sensor lighting helps provide visibility when arriving or leaving after dark, and your private key code allows you to come and go as you please. One parking space is available for one vehicle at the rear of the property. The front porch and gated backyard are private areas and are not included with the rental. Please do not enter through the backyard gates or access the front porch.
